Custom Embroidery

We offer a complete custom. Developing an eye-catching design is one of our specialties. We provide digitizing, but for the budget conscious, we also offer stocks designs combined with lettering to produce a unique and spectacular logo or design. You can also have lettering only.

We use industrial, computerized embroidery machines.

Embroidery has been used for generations to produce unique and personalized clothing, promotional products and gifts. Unlike printed goods, embroidery lasts longer, can look three dimensional and in most cases outlasts the life of the garment.

While digitizing is more expensive than having us develop something from our stock designs, if you have a specific logo or image you want reproduced, we recommend getting it digitized to produce a high quality design. An embroidery machine requires a special file format that tells the machine the length of stitches, where to place them and where to make color changes.

What materials can be embroidered?

Most materials can be embroidered, as long as they can be put onto the machine and a needle can pierce the surface. Common items to embroider are all types of clothing, caps and hats, nylon, cloth or leather bags, towels and cloth chair backs. When a design is digitized, the digitizer should take into account the type of material the design will be stitched on.

Digitizing

The art of digitizing is important to the overall presentation and look of embroidery. Anything embroidered must be digitized at one stage or another, even lettering.

We call digitizing an art form because when a design is being digitized by someone who uses the old methods, they hand draw the image, then decide on the direction and type of stitches to be used to produce the 3D quality of an image. The digitizer creates a file that can be read and understood by the computerized embroidery machine.

Artwork for digitizing:

It is important to have a clear, crisp image for digitizing. Details are important to ensure the colors and appearance are consistent with the flat image. We can work with hand-drawn images but this can produce something not quite what you had in mind.

Preferred choices for the artwork to be used for digitizing are:

  • artwork on disk or by email. Acceptable file formats are: jpg, bmp, cdr, psd, png, gif, ai
  • letterhead, envelope, fax or business card with logo (the larger the better)
  • art separation
  • existing sewouts
  • line drawings
  • Cost of digitizing:
  • The initial cost of digitizing is an investment, but once it is completed the digitized design can be applied to almost anything. Most customers choose a size that can be used on many different items, such as the left chest of a shirt and a cap. A standard size of a digitized design is 2.2" high x 4" wide. The cost is based on the number of stitches of the finished design. The rate is $18 per thousand stitches, with most designs being between 4,000 - 10,000 stitches. Minimum charge is $50, maximum charge is $350 for large, full chest or full back designs.
  • Once the digitizing is completed we e-mail or send you a sample stitch-out for your final approval.
